PREPARATION FOR BAPTISM
Baptismal Class:
New parents who are having their first child baptized are required to register their child for baptism and attend a class prior to the baptism. The class will help them to understand the meaning of the sacrament and their role in raising their child in the Catholic faith. Classes are scheduled on the second Saturday of each month at 10:00 am in the Atrium Conference Room. Please contact the parish office to schedule your baptism and baptism class.

Sacrament of Baptism:
Sundays following the 11:00 am mass, Time determined by the parish office.
Baptisms are celebrated on Sundays throughout the year.
A Godparent is to be:
- Godparents are to be a man and a woman. At least sixteen years of age and have celebrated the Sacraments of Initiation in the Catholic Church (Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist). A least one of the godparents must be fully initiated Catholic.
- Able and willing to enthusiastically profess his or her faith during the Rite of Baptism and ready to model a Catholic Christian lifestyle. Specifically, this means weekly participation in the Sunday Eucharist, which is a hallmark of the Catholic Christian life.
Can a non-Catholic be a godparent?
A Protestant friend can participate as a Christian Witness for your child. A Christian Witness: is a baptized Christian and a member of a non-Catholic ecclesial community (e.g. Anglican, United, Presbyterian, etc.) Christians from another denomination may act as Christian witnesses. However, it is necessary to have one Catholic Godparent and you may have only one Christian witness.
RCIA Program: Adults Baptisms
Through the program, the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation are received. To enter the program email the Parish Office or call 973-635-0070, ext. 710. The RCIA Program begins in September.
